Riding the Best Electric Skateboard Ever Made… There were Some Problems Though

Onewheel+ XR

About 8 months ago, I was doing some research on electric skateboards, and 2 caught my eye. The Boosted V3, and The Onewheel XR. After diving into what each one was capable of, I compared and contrasted both of their features, and I came to a final conclusion. A Onewheel, DUH. It has a top speed of 18 mph, and it can go off-road on some serious terrain. The boosted, well, not as much.

From what I’ve seen, the Boosted V3 is made to go fast on pavement, and sometimes asphalt. It does have a higher top speed than the Onewheel, which I don’t really care about, as I now have owned my board for almost half a year. But like the title of this article I did have some problems.

November 2020 was when I started to have problems regarding Pushback. To those who don’t know what that is, it is essentially a speed warning, pushing the front of the board up to slow you down. I was going 4 miles per hour when this happened. Then, I fell. In the Onewheel community, Nosediving is where the board shuts off mid ride, and you fall forward. And If you don’t know what to do, you’re screwed. I was one of those people who didn’t know what to do.

After falling going 4 MILES PER HOUR, I was picked up my mom (thank you mom), and I soon emailed future motion to try and fix my problem. They told me to send in my diagnostics and they would review it. They told me to leave it plugged in for a few days, And I should be good. My problem was fixed for 2 months. Then It happened again. Pushback, with a near fall. I emailed them again, and this time, they quoted me 500 dollars for a batter replacement. I pondered paying them, because having faith in a product relies on the producer making sure nothing is defective, and this time, my board was the one that didn’t work right.

Instead of paying 500 dollars to have the same battery, I payed a bit more to get a battery with double the range, and no known defects. After 2 weeks, and a bit of work, I had a working Onewheel, with 38 miles of range, and no having to worry about battery related pushback, for a long time… Hopefully
